Degrees and Certificates Don’t Make Leaders

Rich Baron and Maikel Bailey Episode 189

Thank you for all of your support. Please let us know what you think about our podcast and what topic you may want to hear from us. Leaders, Lead Well!

It is often assumed that going to college and getting that diploma, or working on a professional certificate equips people to lead. Don't get me wrong, diplomas and certifications are critical in doing your job well, or having the ability to do your job at all. After all, education is what helps to drive us forward. However, developing leadership skills and having the ability to do your job are two different sets of skills. Developing your leadership skills is what sets you apart from the pack. Don't believe us? In the 20th CEO Survey conducted by PwC (www.pwc.com/people), 84% of all global CEOs surveyed stated that soft skills are the current battleground for new talent. While STEM and digital skills are seen as important, demands are outstripped by soft skills such as adaptability, problem-solving, creativity, and leadership. (STEM and digital skills were rated the lowest in demand). In fact, these CEOs view the availability of these soft skills as the biggest business threat ahead of the speed of change in technology and changing customer behaviors.

Join Rich and Maikel as they discuss the importance of developing leadership skills.
