Ah, the Disney Masterpiece, The Sorcerer's Apprentice. It was a sgment in the animated film, Fantasia. Featuring Mickey Mouse as the apprentice who is eager to learn, but finds that the Sorcerer is unwilling to teach him what he knows. Or perhaps, has simply failed to see Mickey's eagerness to beome a Sorcerer himself. When the Sorcerer leaves Mickey on his own, Mickey, obviously the problem solver with great ideas, shows that he knows just enough to get the broom moving, but soon finds that he is in over his head and does not have a clue how to control the outcome. Sound familiar? How many senior leaders fail to pass on their knowledge and skills to those in their organizations eager to learn and utlilize their own skills and talents? Rich and Maikel discuss the importance of developing skilled leaders in your organization.
